Working directly over a 1990 Topps football card sheet, Bridgland disrupts the familiar imagery with layers of gestural paint and the words “Every morning I’ve got a new chance.” The original graphics remain visible beneath the intervention, creating a collision between nostalgia, optimism and reinvention.
The work reflects recurring themes within Bridgland’s practice — memory, popular culture and the emotional significance we attach to everyday objects and phrases. Here, something inherently nostalgic becomes the backdrop for a simple statement about possibility and starting again.
