Mr Dot - Lepi-DOT-erists

£1,995.00

Artist: Mr Dot

Artwork: Lepi-DOT-erists

Artwork Size: 60 × 60 cm

Lepi-DOT-erists — a butterfly collector, told through dots.

At first glance, the work captures the beauty and fragility of a butterfly, but hidden within the artwork is a much deeper message. Created in braille using thousands of individual dots, the piece reads:

“Mitochondrial disease is a rare genetic disorder which often occurs in babies and young children. There is currently no cure. The Lily Foundation is working hard to change that.”

Mitochondrial disease affects lives in ways many people have never heard of, and awareness is an important step towards change.

Through Lepi-DOT-erists, Mr Dot transforms something delicate into something powerful. The butterfly and its thousands of dots become a symbol of hope, resilience and the importance of supporting research for future generations.

Created for The Lily Foundation Charity Exhibition, the work brings together Mr Dot’s distinctive braille-based practice with the butterfly imagery at the heart of the charity.

100% of the gallery’s proceeds from the sale of this artwork will be donated directly to The Lily Foundation, supporting families affected by mitochondrial disease and funding vital research.
