Description
Taken during Blur's first visit to Japan, Note, Attention, Caution transforms an everyday Tokyo streetscape into a thoughtful study of perspective and place. Through the reflection of a roadside safety mirror, Dave Rowntree captures a passing taxi framed within the city's architecture, creating an image that is at once documentary and quietly surreal.
The composition draws the viewer's eye between reality and reflection, inviting a second look at a scene that might otherwise pass unnoticed. By focusing on the overlooked details of urban life rather than obvious landmarks, Rowntree reveals his instinct for finding compelling photographs in ordinary moments. The image speaks to the curiosity of a traveller discovering an unfamiliar city, where every street corner presents a new way of seeing.
As both drummer and photographer, Rowntree documented not only Blur's rise but the places that shaped their experiences on tour. His photographs preserve the atmosphere of travel as much as the people within it, creating a rich visual diary of one of Britain's most influential bands during their early international adventures.
Printed as an archival pigment print on Somerset Satin Enhanced 330gsm, Note, Attention, Caution is a beautifully observed work that blends documentary photography with graphic composition. Rich in atmosphere and subtle storytelling, it is an exceptional addition for collectors of contemporary photography, travel imagery and music history.
